Krammy's Obituary
2003-02-20 @ 2:43 p.m.
Dr. Stacie Lyn Boyd died Saturday in a freak accident
involving a runaway oxygen tank that belonged to Mick
Jagger, the worlds oldest living man, at a Rolling
Stones reunion concert. She was seventy-eight.
Mrs. Boyd was born Stacie Lyn Walker* on May 14, 1984
at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, New York
to John and Linda Walker. She graduated from high
school in 2002, then attended the State University of
New York at New Paltz. In her junior year, she
utilized the universitys study abroad program and
traveled to England, her favorite place in the world.
In 2006 she graduated with high honors from New Paltz
with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and
Communications.
She then finally left Poughkeepsie to
attend Stanford University in order to earn her PhD in
Psychology. To earn money for her tuition and living
expenses, she worked as a high school guidance
counselor. During this time, she met her future
husband, Chester Bennington, after they were both
involved in a car accident on a Los Angeles highway.
Benningtons wife, who was driving while intoxicated,
had caused the accident and died of her injuries. Mrs.
Boyd and Mr. Bennington, who happened to be the lead
singer of the popular rock band Linkin Park, escaped
the accident with minor injuries. They fell in love
and married on November 13, 2009. Stacie adopted his
seven-year old son Draven Bennington.
On April 20,
2011, the couple celebrated the birth of their first
and only child together, Rivers Trent Bennington.
During this time Mrs. Boyd played guitar for the
biggest band in the universe, Stroke-A-Mole. In 2012,
her life was stricken with tragedy when her husband
was viciously attacked by a mutant sand crab during a
family vacation in Wells Beach. He was unable to be
saved despite hours of painful reconstructive surgery.
Fortunately, Dr. Boyd was strong-willed and able to
overcome the gruesome loss of her beloved husband. She
sued the owner of the mutant crab, Creed singer Scott
Stapp, and gained 2.5 million dollars, which she
immediately donated to the Artists Against Mutant Sand
Crabs Association (AAMSCA). Apparently, Stapp had
trained the mutant sand crab to brutally murder Fred
Durst, and the plan tragically backfired. The sand
crab, named Pouf Le Bon, was executed in front of a
live audience on the set of Saturday Night Live. Scott
Stapp was sent to prison.
After the death of her husband, Dr. Boyd found the
pressures of being the guitarist for the best band in
the universe too taxing. She decided to take a job as
a rock journalist for Rolling Stone magazine and quit
the band in order to spend more time with her family.
At Dr. Boyds final Stroke-A-Mole concert, a twist of
fate allowed Incubus to become the opening band
instead of scheduled opener, Stone Temple Pilots.
STPs singer, Scott Weiland, had suffered a stroke
backstage and was unable to perform. Because of this
unprecedented event, Stacie was introduced to the lead
singer of Incubus, the incredibly sexy Brandon Boyd.
The happy couple was wed on her thirtieth birthday,
May 14, 2014. After having two beautiful children,
Jayden Thomas, born March 15, 2015, and Hannah Mary,
born December 4, 2017, the couple moved from San
Francisco to Ontario, Canada, where they raised their
children. After all of the children were living on
their own, Mrs. Boyd retired from her job at Rolling
Stone and traveled the world with her husband. They
returned to Canada to live a quiet life.
Mr. Boyd, now 86, survives at home. Mrs. Boyd is also
survived by her children; stepson Draven Bennington
and his wife Ellen, of Los Angeles, Rivers Trent
Bennington and his wife Jennifer of London, England,
Jayden Thomas Boyd of Ontario, Canada, and Hannah Mary
Phillips and husband Peter, of New York City. Other
surviving family members include her sister and
brother in law, Christie and Kenneth Spiech of Laurel,
MD; her brother Randy Walker of Orlando, FL; several
nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and one great
grandson. Her former Stroke-A-Mole bandmate Nikki
Reznor also survives her. Mrs. Boyd was predeceased by
her parents, grandparents, and her first husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be
made to AAMSCA or the National AIDS Foundation.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from seven to nine p.m.
at Our Lady Peace Funeral Home on Main Street in
Toront. The funeral will be held there on Wednesday at
one p.m.
Dr. Boyd wished to be cremated and have her ashes
brought to England. The family will fulfill her wishes
after the funeral.
See? Hers is just...better. Go to her diary, too. Oh, oh, REPRESENT!!
